Reston Association's Science Camp. Space is still available in Session I, which meets from June 24 to July 5. Campers, ages 8 to 12, will find out about the women and men of science in the United States and their amazing discoveries. US Geological Survey scientists share exciting tales of their travels and adventures. This camp offers a combination of recreational opportunities and science activities. The cost, per session, is $315 for Reston Association members and $365 for non-members. Camp meets Monday through Friday (except July 4) from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the US Geological Survey. Transportation and before and after-care services also available. An all-camp carnival with amusements, a cookout and prizes scheduled for July 3. It's planning time for the 2002 Capital Barons' Ball, and the American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for special short projects, planning committees and day-of events. The Volunteer Round-Up party starts the action at 12 p.m.-4 p.m. on June 23 at Temporary Road Park, Reston. The Capital Barons' Ball is scheduled for Oct. 2002. Children ages 6-12 are invited to attend free swimming classes this summer at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. The classes are for Beginner levels I & II. Children are taught how to be comfortable in the water, how to develop basic front and backstrokes and have a basic understanding of water safety. Reston Festival Volunteer Coordinator needed for this year's Festival on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. Call Festival Hotline 703-435-7989 to donate time for recruiting the many volunteers who help make the festival possible.

Entertainers from a wide variety of cultural traditions invited to perform at Reston's Multicultural Festival, which takes place 10 am to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Lake Anne Village Center. Musicians, dancers, storytellers, clowns and entertainers of all sorts from all of Northern Virginia's diverse cultures and races are invited to submit demo tapes, videos and press kits to the Multicultural Festival's entertainment committee. Artists and crafters from a wide variety of cultural traditions are invited to submit applications for a booth at Reston's Multicultural Festival, which takes place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Lake Anne Village Center. The organizers are especially interested in hand-crafted items that reflect the diverse cultural heritage of the community. Artists and crafters who are willing to demonstrate their work are especially welcome. Booths are $150 for this one-day event. Crafters who leave their booths clean and in good order at the end of the day will be reimbursed $50. The Reston Community Center offers a full tuition rebate to students who successfully complete the RCC's Lifeguard Training Class. This course provides the American Red Cross (ARC) training required to obtain a job as a lifeguard in any national facility utilizing ARC-certified lifeguards. The course includes Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Preventing Disease Transmission. Students must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled class, and must pass the free Pre-Lifeguard Stroke Evaluation/Improvement class on June 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard Training class, the

class fee of $180 will be fully rebated. The class meets for eight sessions, from June 24 to July 3. Class days and times are Monday through Thursday 1-6 p.m. and on Sunday, June 30 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Register in person or by faxing a completed RCC Registration
