Gang Attacks Pair with Weapons

Police are investigating a possible gang-related incident that occurred Monday in the 4300 block of Taney Ave.

Police said that between 10:40 p.m. and 10:55 p.m., the victim, a 17-year-old male city resident, was sitting in a parked car with three friends when the suspects approached their vehicle. According to police the suspects, a group of about 10 teenagers, surrounded the car. Some suspects were armed with bats and one had a knife. One of the suspects approached the car and began striking it with his weapon. The victim, who was sitting in the back seat, suffered a cut to his arm.

The driver of the car, attempting to drive away and escape further attack, struck at least two vehicles parked on the street. The victim was transported by ambulance to Fairfax Hospital where he was treated and released.

The driver of the victim vehicle is a 17-year-old male city resident, and the other passengers are a 19-year-old male city resident and a 16-year-old female Arlington resident. They were not injured.

The suspect armed with a knife has been identified as Herman Alvarez-Reyes, also known as Snoopy. He is described as a white Hispanic male, 5'5" 130 lbs., between 19-21 years old. He is wanted for felonious assault and attempted felonious assault for the attack. Anyone knowing his location is asked to call Alexandria police at 703-838-4711.
