Officials: No Child Missing

After an intensive search by more than 400 military personnel, police, and volunteers throughout the sprawling 13 square mile expanse of Fort Belvoir last Wednesday, it was determined the report of a missing child was a false alarm.

Beginning at 3:15 p.m., after a report by children on a base playground that they had seen a man pursue a girl into the woods, the throng of searchers scoured the area by helicopter and on foot well into the night. They also went door to door throughout the facility inquiring as to any missing children.

When it was finally concluded that there were no children missing, and there were no indications of any struggle or potential kidnapping, the search was terminated, according to Donald Carr, Fort Belvior Director of Public Affairs.
