Principle Gallery opened their show, "Ocean Lands," by artist Kevin Fitzgerald last weekend with a gala reception. Fitzgerald was at the gallery all evening to sign copies of his new book, "Selected Works," a 60-page limited edition soft-bound book with 52 color plates, essays and commentaries by art historians and dialogue by the artist. The "Big Three Trio" with John Cocuzzi provided entertainment the latter part of the evening.
"Ocean Lands" consists of 60 works of Fitzgerald's most recent paintings depicting the Mid-Atlantic landscape. This expands his interpretation of the land and sea; his prior interpretations have been rooted in the works of masters from the 15th to the 20th century and their relationships to the current forms.
Gallery owner Michele Marceau said that this was the fifth one-man show which they've held for Fitzgerald and that all of the prior ones have sold out.
