Rain Fails to Dampen Gala Event

It rained, but the spirit of the event kept things warm.

The 16th annual Scholarship Fund of Alexandria gala held at Woodlawn Saturday was, from all accounts, another resounding success.

There were more people than ever before at the event and there were more items in the silent auction than ever before, according to Cherie Carroll, one of the event's organizers.

Virginia's First Lady, Lisa Collis, who served as this year's honorary chairperson, greeted people during the pre-dinner reception but had to leave for another event. She and her husband, Governor Mark Warner, are long time supporters of the Scholarship Fund.

The T. C. Williams Jazz Band lightened the rainy evening with up-tempo tunes and Gant Redmund performed his duties as auctioneer with humor.
