Sobriety Checkpoint Nabs 7 People

Fairfax County police conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Centreville last Friday, May 24, on New Braddock Road between Union Mill Road and Montiero Drive, near Route 28. Between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., approximately 1,077 cars passed through the checkpoint. In the photo above, taken around 11 p.m., police pull over a car to see if the driver is under the influence of alcohol. Altogether, police arrested four people and placed charges against three others. Four motorists were arrested for driving while intoxicated (DUI); police also charged two people with refusing to submit to a blood or breath test and one person for illegal possession of alcohol.
