The Adult Fellowship of the Little River United Church of Christ is sponsoring a fund-raising Holiday Baked Goods Sale to be held at the church on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Proceeds of the sale are used to support church programs and improvements. St. John's United Methodist Church, 5312 Backlick Road, will serve as a 2002 Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child. The church will serve as a drop-off site for the children's Christmas project, through which participants fill shoe boxes with toys, candy, school supplies and necessity items to be delivered to underprivileged children all over the world. Shoe boxes will be accepted Nov. 18-25. Christ the Redeemer Episcopal Church will help Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia to build a townhouse on Stevenson Street in Fairfax City for a family in need. The project is a joint effort between Habitat for Humanity and Region 7, a group of Episcopal churches within the Diocese of Virginia. Christ the Redeemer will be working on the house Dec. 7. There will also be workdays scheduled on various Wednesdays throughout November. The Celebration Singers, a costumed and choreographed, all-volunteer, women's show chorus, invites singers to join them. The group sings a variety of music in three voice ranges — soprano, second soprano and alto.
