The HIMnals Youth Choir from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield is offering "The Parable Spin" musical revue on Friday, April 4 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8304 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield. The musical revue is produced by Ryan Landoll, a senior attending Thomas Jefferson High School and directed by Daniel Eichhorst, a senior attending Lake Braddock, and Laura and Sara Denninger, a junior and sophomore, respectively, attending West Springfield High School. The 34 members of the HIMnals are under the direction of Kathy Forsythe and accompanied by Stacy Adducci. Donations will be accepted during the performances and all proceeds will be donated to ECHO, the Ecumenical Community for Helping Others, a social services ministry serving the Greater Springfield community.

On Saturday, April 5, Burke United Methodist Church will host the third United Methodist Women's (UMW) "Bids for Blessings" auction from 6:30 to 9 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. Money raised at the auction will go to support Burke United Methodist Church Missions. Bid on donations such as sports memorabilia, gift baskets, vacations, hand-made crafts, home-baked goodies, professional services and more. Volunteers are invited to participate in the Mount Vernon Crop Walk on Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m., with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. The walk will begin and end at Heritage Presbyterian Church located at 8503 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria. Help out by walking and/or sponsoring walkers to reach out helping hands to the hungry around the world. Information: 703-360-5034. The Jubilee Christian Center Music & Drama Ministry will present an original Easter musical drama, "Nathanial's Discovery," on Sunday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. The drama is written by Randy Rodriquez of Fairfax. It is a story of a man who examines his sinful past and realizes that he really needs God, who he has been running from. The music is directed by Worship Leader Steve Price of Alexandria. The Lord of Life Lutheran Church will offer two special music and worship programs on Sunday, April 6, at 4 and 7 p.m. At 4 p.m., the Lord of Life Artisan Series will present a concert reflecting the life of Jesus as expressed through works composers such as Bach, Thompson, Rachmaninov, and Mendelssohn with vocalist Karen Mercedes. The concert is open to the public. At 7 p.m., the popular youth praise band "Nothing But Faith" will contribute to a special youth service. Families are welcome. The Little River United Church of Christ, Annandale, will celebrate Lent with a series of Tuesday evening programs on "Poetry and Spirituality: Accessing the Sacred Through Poetry." On April 8, Eric Pankey and Jennifer Atkinson, both authors of several collections of poems and teachers in the Master of Fine Arts program in Creative Writing at George Mason University, will be joined by calligraphy expert Michael Podestra, offering a presentation on "Calligraphy as Prayer" and poetry readings by poet and advocate Carol Zippert, who writes from the African American perspective. A Service of Prayer in a Time of Conflict, Sunday, April 6, 7:30 p.m., at Springfield Christian Church, 5407 Backlick Road, Springfield. All are invited to hear the gospel, to gather the prayers of the people, to lift up all those who suffer the pain of war and to remember those called to military service and their families. Worshipers will be invited to experience Christian unity in Holy Communion at this interdenominational service involving clergy and members of Little River United Church of Christ, Providence Presbyterian Church, Springfield Christian Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Fairfax Presbyterian Church.

Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church in Burke will host several events to honor Easter and Passover and explore how these traditions relate to the world today. On April 13, the Sunday service will be on "The Promised Land." The Rev. Rebecca Cohen will discuss the story of Passover. On Tuesday, April 15, the discussion group on spirituality will consider the question, "Is Easter More Than the Easter Bunny, Funny Hats and White Shoes?" This session explores the Easter story and how it relates to modern Unitarian Universalists. The discussion is 7:30-9 p.m., at the church. On Saturday, April 19, AUUC hosts a Passover Seder at 6:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 20, Accotink will offer activities for children and an Easter egg hunt after each service. Sydenstricker United Methodist Church will present a Palm Sunday concert, "The St. Matthew Passion," on Sunday, April 13, at 7 p.m. The presentation features music by composer William Averitt, professor of music at the Shenandoah Conservatory. * Thursday, April 17. Maundy Thursday Worship at 7:30 p.m., at Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. Choirs will be combined and associate pastor Carrie Yearick will preach.

* Friday, April 18. Good Friday Worship at 7:30 p.m., at Fairfax Presbyterian Church. Choirs and congregations will come together again as the pastors of Providence Presbyterian Church, Al Butzer and Mary Rodgers, provide leadership for this service remembering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

* Sunday, April 20. Easter Worship at 6:30 a.m., led by the Confirmation Class, then traditional services at 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

The Jubilee Christian Center Children's Ministry will sponsor an Easter Treasure Hunt on Saturday, April 19, 12-2:30 p.m., on the church property at 4650 Shirley Gate Road, Fairfax. Gospel Illusionist Kevin Owens will perform. Children ages 2-12 are invited to this free event, including free hot dogs and drinks, goody bags and prizes. Bible characters will also be making special appearances. Pastor Bill Frasnelli will be presenting a multi-media sermon series, "Dare to Dream Again," during the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services at Jubilee Christian Center, now through Easter Sunday, April 20.
