Crafters are invited to submit applications to exhibit at the Reston Community Center Holiday Arts and Crafts Show. The craft show will be held at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods, on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. A committee will select 50 artists. Three Wishes Program makes power wheelchairs available to senior citizens (65 years and up) and the permanently disabled with no cost to the recipient if they qualify. The power wheelchairs are provided to those who cannot walk and cannot self-propel a manual wheelchair in their home, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. No deposit is required. The Northern Virginia Family Service needs foster families for abused and neglected children. African-American families are particularly needed. Reversing a previous decision, a limited supply (60 percent, compared to last year) of Virginia income tax forms will be made available free at public libraries in Fairfax County. Forms are also available online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library with links to IRS and Virginia tax forms. Copies may be printed out at the library from the Internet for 15 cents a page. Tax help for the elderly and people with disabilities will be available at some library branches from February through April 15. Area commuters are invited to celebrate Bike to Work Day in Reston on Friday, May 2 from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Reston Town Center Pavilion. The Reston Town Center Pit Stop Rally will feature refreshments, information tables, give-aways and prizes for pre-registered riders. Hunter Mill District Supervisor Cathy Hudgins and other dignitaries will attend for a brief welcome at 8 a.m..

The event is organized by LINK; Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA); Fairfax County Government; VDOT; Friends of the W&OD Trail; USGS; the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority; the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG); Reston Association; and the Reston Bike Club.

May is National Bike to Work Month, and hundreds of bicycling commuters from the Washington metropolitan region will be out pedaling in celebration of clean transportation. A major rally will be held in downtown DC, with suburban pit-stop rallies, including Reston's, scattered throughout the region.
