Taste of the Town, Reston's annual outdoor event offering opportunities to sample restaurants and enjoy live bands at Reston Town Center, is seeking volunteers. People are needed for ticket taking, set-up and take-down, beverage sales, beer garden and other general duties. Shifts last about three hours. Reston Museum. The Reston Museum at Lake Anne Village Center is looking for volunteers to work in the museum shop. No special skills are required and scheduling is flexible. The programming is sponsored by the Reston Historic Trust offering children's art programs, walking tours and educational lectures. Multicultural Festival. Volunteers are needed to join the planning committee for Reston's Multicultural Festival which will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, at Lake Anne Plaza, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The committee will coordinate the entire festival including opening and closing ceremonies, music and dance performances, art displays, craft and food sales, demonstrations, multicultural dialogues, fund-raising and publicity. American Cancer Society Reston Relay For Life. Fund-raising teams are now forming. Teams are comprised of 8-15 individuals. All participating team members will spend a day at the ceremonies, including the Survivors Victory Lap and the Luminaria Ceremony, May 31-June 1, at South Lakes High School. During the day-long event, teams will jog or walk around the high school track in relay fashion to show defiance to cancer disease. No minimum amount of money is required to be raised. Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival. The annual event will be held Saturday-Sunday, May 17-18, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at Reston Town Center to benefit the Greater Reston Arts Center. The festival is the largest outdoor arts festival in the region and will include works for sale from more than 170 painters, sculptors, fine-craft artisans and jewelers. The Herndon Festival has volunteer opportunities at the food and beverage booth. The event requires about 30 trained ABC managers with one manager on site at all time for all four days during festival beer booth hours. In order to become an ABC manager, volunteers must participate in a one-hour training class. The class will be held Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Herndon Community Center.
