The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) has awarded Del. Thomas Davis Rust (R-86) with their Legislative Award of Excellence. The award was presented during the Governor’s Conference on Education in Richmond. Del. Rust was the only member of the House of Delegates chosen to receive the honor for 2003.

In introducing Delegate Rust, VSBA president Candyce Cassell, a Loudoun County School Board member, noted Del. Rust’s education-friendly voting record and his patronage of HB2757, a bill allowing elected school boards more flexibility in the hiring process.

Craig Griffin of Herndon was a runner-up in French's French Fried Onions "Crunch and Say Cheese" contest for his cooking tips that using the product. Griffin uses his onions crushed and sprinkled on popcorn, mixed with beans and rice, and as a topping for apple cobbler pie. Griffin received a digital camera for his tips.
