The School Board hired Gibson Consulting in February after deciding another group, School Match, which meet with both the School Board and Board of Supervisors, would not provide the comprehensive audit the elected boards were seeking. Initially, the Fairfax Education Foundation, a private sector fund-raiser for school projects, was going to raise the money needed for the audit, but pulled out, forcing the School Board to limit the spending to $250,000.
According to Gibson Consulting Group’s Web site, the Austin, Texas-based company specializes in financial, operational and information management consulting services for public, nonprofit and private sector organizations -- in particular in the fields of education, health care and fraud and litigation consulting.
