<sh>Man Charged in Stabbing Case
<bt>Fairfax County Police arrested a Springfield area man, following a stabbing outside a house in the 8200 block of Carrleigh Parkway in the Springfield area. On Sunday, Aug. 24., around 5:30 a.m., one of the residents, a 20-year-old Springfield area man, went outside with a baseball bat to investigate loud noises. He discovered an acquaintance, Gary Hutton, 22, of Willow Bend Court, in the backyard. The victim confronted Hutton and a fight ensued. The victim was stabbed several times in the upper body and Hutton fled the scene on foot.
Patrol officers and a Fairfax County Canine Team investigated the area and located Hutton in the neighborhood. He was taken into custody. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and is in stable condition. Hutton was charged with malicious wounding and taken to the Adult Detention Center.
<sh>Attempted Robbery
<bt>In the 4300 block of American Drive, a would-be robber was scared away when the victim shouted for help and a car passed by. On Aug. 12, at about 9 p.m., an Annandale area woman, 21, was walking when the suspect approached her, pulled a knife and demanded money. The victim shouted for help as a car drove by. The suspect, who fled the scene, was described as white, about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
<sh>Woman with Baby Robbed
<bt>A 19-year-old Springfield woman was walking near Creedmore Drive and Woodstream Court with her baby when a man robbed her. According to Fairfax County Police, the suspect approached the woman from behind on Aug. 15, about 9:40 p.m., pointed a handgun at her and demanded cash. The victim searched through her baby's diaper bag and gave the suspect cash before he ran away. The suspect was described as black, in his early 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
<bt>Man Injured in Robbery
<bt>Fairfax County Police reported that a man received a broken jaw when he and a friend were the victims of an Aug. 20 robbery. At about 10:15 p.m., the victims, aged 20 and 18, were playing basketball on a half-court adjacent to the Pohick Library. Three black males walked up and asked to join the game. A short time later, one of the suspects picked up the victims' car keys and cellular telephone that were at the side of the court. When the victims asked for their property back, one suspect punched the 20-year-old man in the face, breaking his jaw. The suspect then attempted to punch the second victim but missed. The three suspects then walked to the victims' cars, but did not gain entry. The suspects were last seen walking across Sydenstricker Road toward Saint Andrews Church. The victim who sustained a broken jaw was treated at Access of Springfield. The other victim was not injured. The suspects were described as black and in their 20s.
<sh>Vandals Strike Kingstowne Village
<bt>Vandals spray painted several swastikas and words on a community sign in the 5900 block of Kingstowne Village Parkway in the Kingstowne area. According to a Fairfax County Police report, an employee of Comar Management Inc., the property management company for the Kingstowne Towne Center, discovered the destruction. The painting was done sometime between Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. and Aug. 13, at 6:30 a.m.
