ACDS Meeting
<bt>The Advisory Council for Students with Disabilities will hold its monthly meeting Jan. 14, 2004, at the Belle Willard Center, 10310 Layton Hall Drive, Fairfax. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to observe the meeting.

<sh>CHADD Program
<bt>"Real Help for Parents of AD/HD Kids with Oppositional Defiant Behavior" will be the topic of the Jan. 15 program of CHADD (Children and Adults With Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) of Northern Virginia. The session will be conducted by clinical psychologist Dr. Guy Van Syckle, whose areas of interest also include family conflict, learning problems, parenting issues, divorce and separation, and custody litigation.
According to CHADD, as many as two-thirds of children with AD/HD have at least one other coexisting condition. Approximately 40 percent of individuals with AD/HD have oppositional defiant disorder, which involves a pattern of arguing with multiple adults, losing one's temper, refusing to follow rules, blaming others, deliberately annoying others, and being angry, resentful, spiteful and vindictive.
The program begin at 7 p.m., in the multi-purpose lecture room at Fairfax High School, 3500 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax. The programs are free and open to the public.
