Masquerade Angel Ball Goes On

The Campagna Center angels were disguised this year. They came as jesters, jousters and masked men and women. All braved the snow and cold to come to the Masquerade Angel Ball 2003, held last Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City.

During the cocktail hour, guests bid on the various silent auction items. Mystique Jewelers again offered their jewelry raffle, a piece won by Claudia Kostel.

Several awards were giving during the evening. Shannon Campagna received the Barbara Pratt Lee Heart of Gold Award. She was recognized for her work with the Junior Friends' hospitality committee; new member committee; the Toast to Alexandria restaurant committee; and the Scottish Walk ad sales and parade committees.

The Golden Halo Award was given to Carter Flemming for her 30 years of dedication to The Campagna Center. Flemming has chaired the Scottish Christmas Walk and Decorator Showhouse and served as president of the board of directors.

The final award, the Elizabeth Anne Campagna Award, was given to the Frank and Betty Wright Foundation for their continuing commitment to the Wright to Read program. Accepting the award was Lionel C. Epstein, who serves as a foundation board member.

A dinner, which included game hens and dessert bar, was served, followed by dancing with the band, New Town.
