An Allied reunion of World War II veterans is scheduled for Sept. 14 -15, 2003, in Stalingrad, Russia. A local veteran is organizing a group to attend the reunion. The trip will include a 22-day Volga Cruise beginning on Sept. 5. For more information, call 703-273-2547 or e-mail Jebogart@juno.com.

Navy Lt. j.g. Nathan J. Gammache, son of retired Naval Reserve Cmdr. and Mrs. Richard J. Gammache of Oakford Drive in Springfield, was recently designated a Naval Flight Officer while serving with the 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Marine Corps Pvt. Horacio Miranda, son of Roxana G. and Sergio L. Miranda of Cove Landing Road in Burke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Miranda is a 2002 graduate of Robinson Secondary School.

Marine Lance Cpl. Juan Saldana, son of Martha Saldana of Tributary Court in Springfield, is currently on a six-month deployment while assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C. Saldana is a 2000 graduate of Annandale High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Price D. McDonald, son of Cynthia A. and Mike K. McDonald of Falcon Landing Court in Burke, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Army Pvt. Thomas J. Pettigrew has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Pettigrew is the son of Pete Pettigrew of Ivanhoe Lane, Alexandria. He graduated in 2002 from Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke.

Coast Guard Seaman Karl D. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Williams of Burke, recently graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J. and was promoted to his present rank.

Navy Ensign Adam B. Shinabrger, stepson of Edward H. Axman and son of Navy Cmdr. Linnea M. Axman of Acorn Knoll Court in Burke, recently was commissioned to his current rank after completing Aviation Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.
