* The Gospel According to the Simpsons. The Spiritual Life of the World's Most Animated Family examines the belief systems of the TV show's characters — Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa Simpson, their Evangelical neighbor Ned Flanders, and the pastor of their church, the Rev. Lovejoy. Eight sessions. Sundays, beginning Feb. 2, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cost is $12.
* In God's Time: The Bible and the Future. A study focusing on what the Bible really says (and does not say) about "end times." A balanced, comprehensive and accessible guide to exploring the Christian idea of God's final triumph, based on the new book by Craig Hill of Wesley Theological Seminary. Sundays, 10:30-noon (March 2-April 27) or Mondays, 7:30-9 p.m. (March 3-April 28). Cost is $15.
* Job Search Network and Support Group. This on-going group was formed to help hone skills at job hunting, interviewing and resume writing and to provide guidance and support during the job search process. Guest speakers, head hunters and human resource people are often invited to attend and offer advice. First and third Thursdays of each month. 7:30-9 p.m. Room 142. Free.
* Recharging Your Relationship: A Workshop for Couples. Analyze and recharge your relationship. Explore gender differences, rebalance and reconnect with your partner in this one-day workshop for couples, led by Rita Hursh, licensed professional counselor. Saturday, Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $80/couple or $50/individual. Advanced registration required by Feb. 10.
* Sing the Faith. This one-session workshop will explore Biblical story, poetry, music and history of five beloved hymns of the Christian faith: Great is Thy Faithfulness; Blessed Assurance; Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise; and Holy, Holy, Holy. * So, You're in the Pew, Now What? (Part 3) The Basics of Being in Mission. We are all called to minister to those in need. CUMC is known for its mission emphasis, but what does that really mean for individuals? Is it giving financial support? A helping hand? A gift of time? What would happen if each member or participant volunteered in at least one mission activity or project? Join this discussion on the "how-to's" of ministering to those in need. * The Will of God. Tragedy befalls and leaves many confused. Life doesn't turn out as planned. World events bring unspeakable horrors into the lives of innocents. This six-session course, based upon the book by Leslie Weatherhead, will help participants think about how God's will is related to God's character and ultimate intentions.
