Good Shepherd Housing welcomed major donors and volunteers to its new offices at 8305 Richmond Highway this month. The new offices are a public/private partnership, allowing Good Shepherd Housing to continue providing homes and support to the working poor, disabled and elderly residents of the Mount Vernon and Lee districts.
The event, sponsored by the Outreach Committee of the Board of Directors, honored the individual donors and volunteers that make services possible. In addition, special thanks went to Supervisor Gerry Hyland, the Mount Vernon Kiwanis and other supporters who made the move possible. Special grants from Treasury Bank and the Philip L. Graham Fund enabled Good Shepherd Housing to keep serving clients while they moved offices for the first time in 10 years.
Good Shepherd Housing created the "Mount Vernon Kiwanis Welcome Center" as part of the new office, to ensure that needy families can obtain essential information and referrals.
