Potomac is served by three fire stations, two operated by Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department, and one by the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department.

Both departments offer a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Earlier this year, the Montgomery County Fire Administrator, Gordon Aoyagi, proposed to remove the ladder truck from Station 10 on River Road as a budget savings. The ladder truck is the only piece of county owned equipment at the station.

However, the cuts were not made and the truck is still at the station.
