Chantilly Man Is Charged With Rape

A Chantilly man is facing as much as life in prison after Fairfax County police charged him with three, violent sex crimes. He is Eric Alfonso Hernandez (a.k.a. Hugo Rene Lopez), 39, of 4004 Kimberly Glen Court.

Police officers from the Sully District Station responded to a home in the Chantilly area for a report of an incident that occurred last Wednesday, June 25, around 8 p.m. They spoke with a 32-year-old woman who told them that she'd been sexually assaulted.

Police say investigation revealed that Hernandez allegedly went to the home of a female acquaintance, displayed a weapon and reportedly assaulted her sexually. They arrested him at his home and charged him with rape, forcible sodomy and abduction with the intent to defile.

Hernandez was transported to the Adult Detention Center, early Thursday morning, June 26. He's currently being held there without bond and has an Aug. 22 court date. Rape and forcible sodomy are each punishable by a maximum of life in prison.
