Local technology company WorkForce Technologies was honored by the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce as the "Mid-Sized Business of the Year." The award was presented at the Chamber’s annual awards gala, held on Feb. 1 at the Hyatt Dulles. Workforce Technologies provide interactive, voice and Web-based self-service solutions for the human resources, employment, finance and customer service needs of large and small enterprises. Last year, the company won an E-Gov Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in government Web-based programs, for their NASA STARS system utilized at NASA centers across the country. Employees regularly participate in community outreach programs, including work missions, prison ministries and area high schools.

WorkForce Technologies has announced that Jonathon Roth has been hired as director of business development for the firm, which specializes in self-service solutions. Prior to joining the company, Roth co-founded AssureNet, an application services provider for brokerage general agents and financial planners, where he served as COO and business development director.

Victory Van Corporation recently expanded its local operation with the opening of a new 100,000 square-foot facility in Dulles. The facility is less than two miles from Dulles International Airport and adjacent to Victory's existing warehousing complex in the Dulles corridor. Victory, which is based in Alexandria, is an agent for Allied Van Lines, Inc.

Sidney E. Fuchs, vice-president and director of Northrop Grumman Corporation's Intelligence Operations unit, has been named to the Board of Visitors of the National Defense University. Fuchs was nominated by the White House and appointed by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld to a four-year term.

Herndon-based Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has won at $118 million contract from the Internal Revenue Service for the Service Center Recognition Image Processing System (SCRIPS). Under the agreement, the company will provide IT maintenance support for SCRIPS, the system by which tax forms are processed.

The Herndon Council for the Arts is seeking businesses and individuals to donate auction items for its 12th Annual "Taste of the Town" and auction fund-raiser for the arts will be held on Thursday, April 24 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Worldgate Centre.
