Alexandria police have classified the death of 49-year-old Gail E. Collins as a homicide, the city's first of 2003.
Police responded to a call from Collins’ family at 5 p.m. last Friday. Collins lived alone in an apartment at the Aspen House apartment complex on Landover Street. The family became concerned when Collins’ employer notified them that she had not been to work for several days.
Police entered Collins’ apartment and found her dead from a gunshot wound. There are no suspects.
