Leesburg-based Silverwood Associates, Inc., a rental housing developer, recently donated $22,500 in college scholarships to children living in Silverwood-owned apartment communities in Arlington and Fairfax County. Nine children received $2,500 scholarships in random drawings held at four Northern Virginia apartment communities. Each child’s scholarship was deposited in a Wachovia Bank branch in the child’s name, under the Virginia Transfer to Minors Act. The scholarship grants incur no tax liability. Each family attending a scholarship drawing received a $25 Safeway gift certificate, and every child in attendance walked away with a $10 gift certificate to Blockbuster.

Pinnacle Design & Consulting based in Fairfax has been hired by builder Centex Homes to design a new floorplan for Loudoun County's new group living facility at Brambleton in Ashburn. The plan will accommodate the disabled, including a chairlift platform to allow access to the second floor. When completed, the home will provide housing for the county's physically and mentally handicapped.
