UCM Still Short of Reaching Their Goal for Fannie Mae Funds

The homeless have not been forgotten. A series of walks recently at UCM, Plymouth Haven Baptist Church and Good Shepherd Catholic Church helped push the numbers a little closer to their goal.

Also helping UCM reach their monetary goal were the following participating churches and schools: Anacostia High School, Aquinas Montessori School, BEL Center/Bryant Alternative School, Belle View Baptist (walked with Plymouth Haven), Birney Elementary School in Washington, D.C., Browne Academy, Burgundy Farm School, Bush Hill Elementary School, Church of the Spirit, Curl Burke J & M Swim, Faith United Methodist, Heritage Presbyterian Church, Hybla Valley Elementary School, Messiah Evangelical Lutheran, Montessori School of Alexandria, Mount Vernon Presbyterian, Mount Vernon Unitarian Church, Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, Pohick Episcopal EYC, Sacramento Neighborhood Center, Saint Louis Catholic School, Saint Louis Catholic RE Classes, Stratford Landing, Washington Mill Elementary School and Waynewood Elementary School.

ALL THE WALKS added several hundred names to the UCM's roster of registered walkers. The current count is 1,097— about 150 shy of reaching the goal of 1,250 walkers required to receive a $25,000 contribution from Fannie Mae. They're not there yet, but UCM Development Officer Tracy Davis said that she and Deborah Halla are starting to breathe a little easier. It's not too late to help. Walkers can still support UCM by joining The National Help the Homeless Walk on Saturday, Nov. 22. Walkers just need to make sure they put UCM's agency code (UCMCS) on the form so they receive the money.
