Brad Center has done his homework and logged in his community service hours. He's well-equipped to serve on the Fairfax County School Board, as he seeks the Lee district seat vacated by Christian Braunlich.
As facilities chairman for the County Council of PTAs, he has pushed for a variety of creative funding options for school construction and other school funding, including the public private partnership behind the South County High School, cash proffers and corporate sponsorship. With the limits of financial resources and bonding availability, every creative idea will be needed to solve the school's most pressing problems.
Center is also thoughtful about the needs of children, but seeks research before he recommends investing in particular solutions. He correctly identifies the "minority" achievement gap as an economic resources gap.
