Candidate Jack Rust (R), in his commentary of Oct. 2 in The Connection, touted his efforts to build a new South County high school. He did not mention that these efforts caused the renovation of the W.T. Woodson High School to be delayed several years. Woodson was in then Del. Rust's district, but the new high school was not. Del. Rust was voted out of office in 2001, in part, because he rebuffed the Woodson community when it asked for his help to renovate its 40-year old school. The Woodson community with the help of Del. Chap Petersen (D-37th) was able to get Woodson's renovation back on schedule. Chap Petersen should be re-elected because he works for his district.
