Tawnya Ravy of Fairfax attended the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC), July 27 through Aug. 7, in Washington, D.C. and New York, N.Y. The GYLC is a leadership development program for high school students from around the world who demonstrate leadership potential and strong scholastic skills. Ravy was among 350 scholars to attend the conference, which explored international politics, finance, culture and diplomacy with world leaders and newsmakers. In addition to a list of speakers, GYLC explored the centers of work diplomacy and finance, making stops at the U.S. State Department, the United Nations and various embassies. GYLC culminated in the Global Summit, which took place in the United Nations and assigned roles of world leaders to students during an international crisis simulation.
