<cal2>Springfield Music Club. A local organization that meets September through May on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings and programs usually take place at Jordan Kitt's Showroom on Gallows Road in Vienna at 10 a.m. Programs range from opera to baroque trios to member recitals. The club also offers workshops for music teachers. The club is made up of over 150 members who are professional music teachers, performers and music lovers. Burke Rotary Club. Since June 1984. Meets each Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m., for breakfast. For most of its existence it met at Hopsfrog Restaurant (formerly Fritters), but for the past two years it has found its home at Brion’s Grille across from George Mason University in the University Mall. Equality Fairfax. A gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and advocacy group, Equality Fairfax offers a wide variety of regular social activities, volunteer opportunities and issues education in Fairfax County. Springfield Toastmaster's Club. Helping people improve public speaking and leadership skills for 35 years, meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7-9 p.m., at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8304 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield. The Celebration Singers. An all-volunteer, 40-voice, three-part harmony choreographed and costumed women's show chorus, invites women interested in singing to join them. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays and alternate between Heritage Hunt Club in Gainesville from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Springfield United Methodist Church from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Call 703-354-3788.

OAR Meetings. OAR (Opportunities, Alternatives and Resources), Inc. of Fairfax County hosts a bi-monthly Family Support Group for those with a loved one who is incarcerated. Meetings are held at the OAR office, 10640 Page Ave., #250, Fairfax. The group meets the first and third Thursday of every month. It is free and open to all. Boy Scout Troop 859. Outdoor activities include camping, hiking, rock climbing and canoeing. Summer camp opportunities including high-adventure backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and canoeing and backpacking in the Maine Wilderness. Submarine Veterans. The Northern Virginia Base of the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. hosts a free monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post, 6520 Amherst Ave., Springfield. New Neighbors League Club of DC Metro. A non-profit organization, is looking for those new to the area or newly retired and looking for new activities and friends. The club offers bridge, bunco, bowling, hiking, quilting, book clubs, an investment club, an antique group, a gourmet group, couples dining, couples bridge and many other activities. Mother’s First. Support group for women making the transition from careers to at-home motherhood. Activities include lectures, field trips, moms night out, etc. Fairfax meetings are the first and third Wednesdays at 10:45 a.m., at the John C. Wood Complex. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). Join other mothers with children ages birth through kindergarten who desire to be the best moms they can be. Enjoy refreshments, inspirational speakers and encouragement through small group discussions. La Leche League of Burke meets at 9:30 a.m. the first Saturday of each month. Meetings take place at the Burke Presbyterian Church on Oak Leather Drive off of Burke Center Parkway. The next meeting takes place on Saturday, May 1. The breastfeeding support group offers help and support to mothers who are currently breastfeeding a child or anyone who plans to breastfeed. Mothers & More is a support organization for women who have altered their career path to care for their young children at home.
