<bt>In a letter printed in the Herndon Connection two weeks ago, April 14-20, 2004, the author of the letter was incorrectly identified. The correct author is Jack D. Hickson, Adjutant of Wayne M. Kidwell, American Legion Post 184.

<sh>Golf Course Master

Plan Forum

<bt>The Herndon Centennial Golf Course and town Public Works staff will play host to a public forum Thursday, April 29, beginning at 6 p.m., in the golf course clubhouse, 909 Ferndale Ave. The purpose is to solicit comments on the proposed golf course master plan developed by Ault, Clark & Associates. A representative from the firm will give a presentation and answer questions related to the overall planning process and the proposed improvements. <sh>Community Day

<bt>Herndon will be holding it's fourth annual Community Day Saturday, May 1, from noon-4 p.m., at the Dulles Park Shopping Center and inside the Neighborhood Resource Center, 1086 Elden ST.. In addition, there will also be a Housing Fair, which will feature seminars and exhibits for home owners, buyers and sellers.

There will be live jazz music, a Tae Kwon Do demonstration by H.K. Lee Karate and dances from around the world including Bolivian, Mexican, Iranian, Irish and salsa. The event will also feature a moon bounce, face painting, crafts, Susan Wall's Carousel Puppets and a cakewalk. A hands-on nature tent display will feature snakes, butterflies and tadpoles.

The Herndon Police will offer free child-safety services such as car-seat inspections and inkless child fingerprinting by the Fairfax County police. The Lions Club will sponsor free hearing and vision screening. For more information, call 703-435-6830.

<sh>Reception for De Noyer

<bt>The Herndon Town Council will play host to a reception honoring Councilman John De Noyer for 16 years of service to the Herndon community as a member of the Town Council, Wednesday, May 19, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Herndon Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St. Refreshments will be served and individuals will have an opportunity to wish De Noyer well in his retirement during an open microphone period.

The public is invited to attend the reception and interested individuals are requested to contact the town clerk by Friday, May 7, by calling 703-435-6804 or e-mailing viki.wellershaus@town.herndon.va.us.
