Alexandria invites area adults to volunteer as part of one of the area's biggest New Year's Eve parties on Friday, Dec. 31, 2004.
First Night Alexandria needs at least 200 volunteers to staff 28 performing arts venues in Old Town this New Year's Eve. Individuals participate in one three-and-a-half hour shift as assigned. In exchange for their assistance, volunteers receive free admission to all entertainment venues during the evening, keepsake First Night Alexandria aprons, special volunteer goodie bags, and refreshments, all sponsored by Burke and Herbert Bank and Trust Company and the Alexandria Hotel Association.
A special volunteer orientation meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at the George Washington Masonic Temple dining room.
Virginia Kelly, volunteer coordinator for First Night Alexandria, said expanded venues and the fact that this is the 10th anniversary of First Night Alexandria, means many more volunteers will be needed to work at the Dec. 31 celebration. Volunteer forms are available for download at: www.FirstNightAlexandria.org or by emailing Ginny Kelly at GKelly@FirstNightAlexandria.org.
First Night Alexandria, a non-profit organization, is a family celebration through the visual and performing arts, created by, and for the community to welcome the New Year.
