Alexandria Country Day School’s sixth grade handbell choir rang in the beginning of the holiday season recently at the annual Simon Evening of Giving at the Fashion Center in Pentagon City, a festive night of private shopping that benefits local charities. Led by music teacher Rob Blount, the students performed: the ACDS school song; “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella,” a traditional French carol; and “On Christmas Night All Christians Sing,” an English carol.

In other news at the school, as an end note to the first capital campaign, Building on the Dream, on Nov. 16, the school welcomed donors to the unveiling of the new elevator! Built to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the elevator will enable heavy equipment and supplies to be delivered between floors more readily, and will enable those on crutches or in wheelchairs to move freely throughout the building.

Carl B. Giller, a senior majoring in chemistry at the College of William & Mary, has been elected to the Alpha of Virginia chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the school.
