Girl Scouts Troops 721 (Junior), 1836 (Junior), 2876 (Brownie), 4552 (Brownie), and 4735 (Daisy) will celebrate World Thinking Day at Lake Anne Elementary School Cafeteria, 11510 North Shore Drive, Reston on Friday, Mar. 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. Thinking Day is a Girl Scout event celebrated every year on Feb. 22. This year there will be a special celebration at Lake Anne Elementary. This is the day that Girl Scouts around the world think about each other. One of the primary purposes of this event is to learn more about people who live in other countries.
The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program provides full-time, undergraduate-level college students with an eight-week, paid internship to experience operations in a nonprofit community environment. ExxonMobil Foundation funds the intern salaries and Volunteer Fairfax expenses for the program. Volunteer Fairfax administers the program and trains participating organizations in how to recruit and select interns, and how to organize their summer internships. Participating interns also have the opportunity to attend two developmental seminars on resume writing, interview tips, workplace ethics and etiquette, as well as to complete a group community service project. College students interested in the ExxonMobil-funded internship may visit the Volunteer Fairfax website, www.volunteerfairfax.org to obtain a list of participating local agencies, internship descriptions and agency contacts. Hunter Mill District Supervisor Cathy Hudgins will be holding a

Leadership Fairfax, Inc. (LFI), is seeking candidates for its two outstanding leadership programs – the Leadership Fairfax Signature Program and Emerging Leaders Institute. * Black And White Developing: first, third and fifth weekend of each month, Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m., Tuesdays from 6-10 p.m. and Thursdays from 1-5 p.m.
* Color Photo Lab: second and fourth weekend of each month, Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m., Monday following a color weekend, 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.

reservation. The photo lab fee for black and white developing is $7 per visit for people who live and work in Reston and $9 per visit for all others. Virginia Residents can pick up state and federal income tax forms at all 21 branches of the Fairfax County Public Library. Forms are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Tax preparation assistance for the elderly and people with disabilities is available at several Fairfax County Public Library branches from Feb. until Apr. 15. Reston Community Center (RCC) is holding its annual a Prom Dress Drive collecting lightly-used party dresses, shoes, handbags and jewelry. Dresses of all sizes, styles and colors are welcome. Clothes should be dry-cleaned before donated. If not possible, inform RCC of this when dropping dresses off. Donations are tax-deductible. There is a self-serve drop-off. Bring donations to the Hunters Woods RCC between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The drop-off area is near the pool overlook. On Saturday, April 24, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., teens who are unable to purchase dresses on their own will be invited to select a dress from donations. Additional dates for the Prom Dress Giveaway are April 25, May 2, and May 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. WAHMfest (the Work at Home Moms Expo) has teamed up with home-based businesses and local merchants to create Help a Spouse Care Baskets. Each basket includes a variety of items, including body wash and body sponge, a scented candle, hand cream, chocolates and other "relaxation" items. The Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is seeking volunteers for nursing homes or assisted living facilities in their community which they visit weekly. Listening, observing and mediating, the ombudsman works with the residents, their families and the facility staff to ensure that residents' rights are protected. Applicants must successfully complete training and must be available to volunteer four hours per week during regular business hours.
