Andrew R. Skotzko of Fairfax has been nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point by U.S. Sen. George Allen (R-Va.) Skotzko is a student at Chantilly High School where he is a member of the Senior Council for Varsity Football and a member of the National Honor Society. Skotzko is the son of Eugene and Kimley Skotzko.

Genevieve Beth Sponsler of Fairfax performed in the Franklin & Marshall College's Gala Fall Dance Concert, which took place Nov. 14-16, at Roschel Performing Arts Center. Sponsler is a first-year student at Franklin & Marshall and a 2003 graduate of Robinson Secondary School. She is the daughter of Charles and Linda Sponsler of Fairfax.

Nathaniel Bulls, an Earlham College sophomore and son of Herman and Iris Bulls of Fairfax, earned a second-year varsity letter in football for the 2003 season. Bulls is a graduate of Hayfield Secondary School. Bulls also performed in Earlham College's Gospel Revelations Christmas Concert on Dec. 7. The choir is made up of a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and community members. Earlham is located in Richmond, Ind.

Russell Sleeper, son of Charles and Julia Sleeper of Fairfax, is a member of the students organization OPEN at Lynchburg College, a small college in Lynchburg, Va. Options Providing Enjoyable Nights, OPEN, is a student organization whose purpose is to provide an environment that encourages Lynchburg College students to make low-risk choices through programming, activities, education and communication. Sleeper, a 2002 graduate of James W. Robinson Secondary School, is a sophomore mathematics major.

Fairfax Station resident Caitlin Hartley, a junior majoring in liberal studies, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va. Students on the dean's list have attained a 3.4 or better quality point average

Paul Schmid of Fairfax, a freshman meteorology major in the College of Arts and Sciences at Valparaiso University in Indiana, was selected to play viola in the Valparaiso University Symphony Orchestra. Paul, a graduate of Fairfax High School, is the son of Stephen and Noreen Schmid.
