<lst>HAVEN of Northern Virginia offers the following bereavement support groups:

* A general bereavement support group for anyone grieving the death of a loved one meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting is on July 7.

* Widow/widower bereavement support groups for anyone grieving the death of a spouse. One support group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. and the other meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

* A suicide survivors bereavement support group for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

La Leche League of Fairfax City hosts its next meeting on Wednesday, July 14, at 10 a.m., at the Fairfax Christian Church. The topic is “The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties.” Pregnant and nursing women as well as their children are welcome to attend. Train to End Stroke, a comprehensive marathon-training program which raises funds for the American Stroke Association, is hosting information sessions for people interested in training to walk or run a marathon or half-marathon in Phoenix or Orlando in January 2005. Lymphoma Group: Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This educational support group is for adult patients and families to share and learn ways to meet the challenges of living with Non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Meets on the third Monday of the month at Sunrise Assisted Living Center at Fair Oaks, 3750 Joseph Siewick Drive, Fairfax. Good Grief for Children, 5-12 years old. Mondays through July 26, at 5 p.m., at the Life with Cancer Family Center, 2832 Juniper St. This eight-week group session is open to children who have lost a loved one to cancer. Age appropriate activities and art therapy specially designed to help children share thoughts, feelings and memories that help them with the grief process. For more information call 703-208-5623.

How to Make and Keep Friends. Group open to boys with Asperger's Syndrome in third and fourth grade to discuss improving the qualities of their friendships. Group meets on Tuesdays beginning through July 27 at 5:15 p.m.

Girl Talk. Group open to middle school girls meets Thursdays at 5 p.m. to improve social skills and discuss academic pressure, decision making and other issues.

Children's Educational Support Program meets on Wednesdays through July 28, at 5:15 p.m., at the Life with Cancer Family Center. This eight-week group of discussion and activity for children ages 5-12 who have a family member with cancer. Participants learn about cancer and find ways to manage the feelings and changes that come when someone in the family has cancer. La Leche League of Burke, Northern Virginia's only weekend La Leche League meeting, meets the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Meetings take place at the Burke Presbyterian Church on Oak Leather Drive off of Burke Center Parkway. The next meeting takes place on Aug. 7. The breastfeeding support group offers help and support to mothers who are currently breastfeeding a child or anyone who plans to breastfeed. Expectant and new mothers are encouraged to attend. The topic will be "The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties" but all questions and concerns will be addressed. Food Addicts In Recovery Anonymous is a program for individuals recovering from addictive eating and anorexia based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. There are no dues, fees or weigh-ins at our meetings. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m., at Westwood Baptist Church, 8200 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield. Teen Living Summer Program. The Adolescent and Family Growth Center sponsors the Teen Living Summer program. Activities for participants aim to entertain, educate and provide optimal treatment opportunities for teens. During the summer months, the staff conducts treatment groups and individual therapy sessions along with recreational and team-building activities, including a weekly trip to Six Flags. Other special trips planned include tours of museums, the Pentagon, the Kennedy Center, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, a TV station and an overnight trip to Ocean City. Sunrise Assisted Living of Fairfax offers a short-term stay program for aging persons. Fees vary depending on the community and personal care needs. Three meals per day are included.
