The yard of Stephen and Nina Joyce has been selected as Herndon's July Yard of the Month. Located at 726 Park Avenue, the yard features an immaculate lawn dotted with towering oak trees surrounded by beds containing a variety of ornamental grasses and colorful impatiens. The beds along the front of the house include day lilies, burning bush and begonias.
As winners of Yard of the Month, the Joyce's will receive a $100 gift card to Home Depot and a green thumb sign to display in their yard for the month of July.
The second- and third-place winners for July were Jeff and Jackie Johnson's yard at 1412 Cuttermill Court and Mijad Mujkic and Branke Nikolic's yard at 750 Barbaralynn Place, respectively.
Herndon residents are encouraged to drive by all three gardens to see the efforts of the owners to create and maintain outstanding yards.
Nominations for September will be accepted through Aug. 15. Yards that were previously nominated but were not selected as Yard of the Month can be nominated again.
