The Burke United Methodist Church hosts an Appalachian craft sale on Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the fellowship hall in the church. St. Mary's Mothers' Group is hosting its annual "Kid's Stuff" sale on Saturday June 19, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. (half-price after 12 p.m.) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 5222 Sideburn Road, Fairfax. Donations of gently used toys, infant and maternity items, and clothing to size 14 will be accepted through June 18. The Mother's Group is a nonprofit organization. Donations Needed. The Messiah United Methodist Church is sending a medical mission team to Honduras on Saturday, June 19, and is asking for the following items in donations: multi-vitamins for children, adults and prenatal care; first-aid supplies; large, lightweight duffel bags, sandwich and snack-size baggies; pain relievers; self-stick labels for computer printers; new pencils and new or gently used crayons. Little River United Church of Christ's senior pastor, the Rev. Verne Arens, leads a discussion of Marcus J. St. Christopher's Episcopal Church begins its summer hours on Sunday, June 20, with Holy Eucharist at 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. An Adult Education program also begins on Sunday, June 20, and continues through Sunday, July 25, with the focus on the Book of Revelation. Join Kirkwood Presbyterian Church’s 2004 Vacation Bible School this summer, July 12-16. The Olympics-themed event will feature a week of sporting good fun. Burke Presbyterian Church offers a Coffeehouse Worship Service on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m., for those people who may be unavailable Sunday mornings or are seeking a break from a more traditional style of worship. The service offers the same lesson and sermon as the Sunday service, but in a less formal environment. A nursery is provided for young children. Harvest Church is sponsoring the study series "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren every Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Harvest Church, 7401 Beulah St., Alexandria. The Shalem Institute is offering free monthly prayer opportunities in Fairfax. The time together will be devoted to relaxation, the presentation of different prayer practices, silence, journal keeping and small group sharing. "Growing Through Divorce." This eight-week workshop program discusses topics such as grieving the loss of the marriage, anger, rejection, forgiveness, loneliness and transitioning into single life. Career Net meets every Monday, from 7-9 p.m., at Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church in Burke. The free weekly event allows job seekers to network with each other, receive employment-related news and literature, ask for specific help from others and the volunteers. Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, located at 8336 Carrleigh Parkway in Springfield, supports a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) program on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings are 9:30-11 a.m., at the church. All mothers and children are welcome. The program provides mothers an opportunity to get to know other mothers through discussions and craft activities.
