Merritthon Rumbles On

The third annual Merritthon was held at Churchill High School on June 19. The concert is a fundraiser which began in honor of Merrit Navazio, who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Navazio has since beaten back the disease, but the show goes on. Organizer and Churchill grad Ben Kellogg put together a lineup in honor of his college roommate’s sister Brianna Rose Cohen, 2 1/2 who died from complications after a brain tumor was removed. “The checks we make out will be in honor of her,” Kellogg said.

This year’s show went well, but not has well as Kellogg had hoped. “Turnout wasn’t as high as last year, but everyone had a good time,” he said. The final amount raised had not yet been calculated, he said.

Kellogg plans to put on another show next year, and wants to get attendance back in line with previous shows. “I’m going to try and get a bigger headliner next year,” he said.
