Auction Brings in Money for Crew Team

A hurricane survival kit, geese hunting expedition, unicorn bank and a homemade St. Patrick's Day Dinner were some of the more unusual items available for bidding last Sunday at West Potomac Crew's Row to Riche$ Silent Auction.

Bottles of wine, gift certificates for restaurants, crew items and clothing were also on the list of more than 100 items donated by parents, students and local businesses.

Held at Collingwood on the Potomac, guests seemed to enjoy the food and beverages, as well as the space provided for the bidding items.

Betsy Jones, president of the West Potomac Crew Boosters (WPCB), sent out an e-mail thanking the group of volunteers who made the great night such a success. She thanked Barb Walker and her son and husband who spent many hours planning, preparing and running around making things happen. Andrew Norberg, Team President, was thanked for leading a willing group of rowers to serve and display all the food.

Jones also thanked all the bidders and apologized for the back-up at the close out, and thanked Preston Mullen for making the booklets and everybody who helped arrange the tables, organize the rowers, bartend.
