<sh>Meger-Ramsey

<bt>Robert and Carol M. Falkingham of Spartanburg, S.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Ann Meger of Richmond, to Robert Hutcheson Ramsey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burdette Ramsey, all of Alexandria. Meger is also the daughter of the late Roger Allan Meger.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Emma Katherine Parker, and the late Maurice E. Parket of Huntsville, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred F. Meger of Charlotte, N.C. The groom-to-be is the grandson of Madeline Lee Hutcheson and the late Robert Francis Hutcheson of Emporia, Va., and Frances Stallings Ramsey and the late William Burdett Ramsey of Charlotte Court House, Va.

Meger is a Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business student and plans to receive a post-baccalaureate certificate in accounting degree in December, 2004. She graduated in 1999 from Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. Ramsey graduated from Hampden Sydney College in Virginia with a bachelor of arts degree in managerial economics and French; in May 2004, he graduated with a masters in business administration from William and Mary School of Business. Currently Ramsey is an associate analyst for Friedman, Ramsey & Co. in Arlington.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 30, 2005 in Spartanburg, S.C.

<sh>Howell-Shamess

<bt>David and Margaret-Mary Howell of Alexandria, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Kathleen, to Lt. Joseph Shamess, son of retired Brig. Gen. and Mrs. James M. Shamess of Fairfax Station.

The bride-to-be graduated from St. Stephens-St. Agnes in Alexandria, and is currently a senior at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., majoring in psychology.

The future groom, a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, is presently stationed in Pensacola, Fla.

A Sept. 3, 2005, wedding is planned in Northern Virginia.
