Kobus Honored at Expo

Owner of Village Turf receives two awards.

Lou Kobus is a busy man. Although he’s the owner of Village Turf, a full-service lawn and landscape company, he still finds time to head the Mount Vernon Citizen’s Coalition. He also belongs to several councils and associations, including the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and many others. Kobus and Village Turf have been also done volunteer work at Arlington National Cemetery for the past nine years.

Because of his service to the community, Kobus and Village Turf, Inc. recently received the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA) "Community Service Award" for 2004, sponsored by John Deere. This award is presented annually to the member of the Green Industry who has shown outstanding contributions of time, expertise, personnel, and equipment, for the betterment of his community. He was featured in the Lawn & Landscape magazine article on work done this week at Arlington National Cemetery. the article can be accessed online at http://www.lawnandlandscape.com/news/news.asp?ID=2847). He also received The Leadership Award, sponsored by Bayer Environmental. A feature story talking about Kobus’ background and leadership qualities was published in a Special Supplement to Lawn & Landscape Magazine for November 2004.

Both awards were presented at the Green Industry Expo that was held in Charlotte, N.C., earlier this month.
