Chamber Helps Businesses Connect

BusinessAdvantage Tradeshow highlights local businesses.

Business owners attending this week’s BusinessAdvantage Tradeshow, sponsored by the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce, realized that they came away with plenty of information.

With exhibitors like 4 More Travel; Louise Piazza, American Express Financial Advisor; Walter Clarke, Bank of America; Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Co.; Cecilia Kuhn, CPA, PLLC; Custom Accounting Solutions; Custom Credit Card Process, Inc.; Don Beyer Volvo & Subaru; Eagle G.I.S.; Fairfax Count Economic Development Authority; Fairfax County Office Of House And Revitalization; County of Fairfax Small Business Commission; FastSigns of Alexandria; Flagstone School; Fort Belvoir Federal Credit Union; Hilltop Golf Club; Landmark Urgent Care; Liberty Tax Service; Madison Capitol Advisors, Inc.; Merchant Credit Card Processing; Mount Vernon Health & Racquet Club; National Association For The Self-Employed; Northern Virginia Logos; Paul Spring Retirement Community; R&D Stamp Co.; Redmon, Peyton & Braswell; Southeast Fairfax Development Corp.; Step N Out; The Gables at Mount Vernon; UCM Community Solutions; and Weichert Realtors, they realized that they could solve many of their business needs — needs like finding just the right company to make their signs; the right place to open a business bank account; a good place to get tax help and even a place to help them plan their vacation when they need to get away.

Held at Don Beyer Volvo & Subaru, Mike Turner not only provided his showroom, but also donated two $100 gift certificates for service and a four-hour limo service.

“We’re happy to do it,” Turner said. “It helps business and it helps us too. We’re hoping we can do it every year.”

There were several other door prizes, like a 3x8 banner from FastSigns; a half-day fishing trip from National Bass Guide Service; a Weichert gift basket, and more. Winners were drawn throughout the evening.

Kirby Newman from FastSigns won the grand prize, 27” Panasonic color TV with DVD from Hollin Hall Automotive.

Also winning were the members of the Mount Vernon Spirit soccer team from the LMVSA league and the Alexandria Potomac Little League who raised money for their teams by selling pizza and drinks to exhibitors and guests.
