Teen Life: 'Go Ask Alice'

The Herndon High School Advanced Theatre Ensemble will present "Go Ask Alice" April 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Herndon High School Auditorium. The play, based on an anonymous diary of a 16-year-old girl, follows Alice through her inner struggle to become part of the popular scene and her eventual downward spiral due to her involvement with drugs.

The audience meets "Alice" (Samantha Gordon) living a normal life with her loving mother and father (Emma Jasper and John Daniel). Though an individual, Alice desperately wants to be "cool" and "popular" which will set the stage for her fall into a world of drugs and lies.

This serious play is tastefully performed, showing both the dangers and the tragic consequences of drugs. All audience members, young and old, will be able to relate to the story of an average person trying to adapt to the everyday pressures of a new environment.

"Go Ask Alice" may not be suitable for very young children.
