Family Bakery Adds Doughnuts

Dozens of flavors made fresh every day

After months of waiting for equipment and permits, The Family Bakery has found their missing link. Now called the Family Bakery and Mrs. Donut, Misen Nguyen has added the component that has been missing from his new bakery since he opened last year — fresh doughnuts.

Nguyen said that he makes his doughnuts fresh every morning. Arriving at 4:30 in the morning, he spends a couple of hours preparing the dough for his more than three dozen different flavors of doughnuts. The doughnuts start hitting the fryer around 6 a.m., and by 6:30 a.m., the smell of fresh, hot doughnuts can be smelled all around the Cooper Road area.

“The cake doughnuts are soft and melt in your mouth,” said Nguyen, who operates the business with his wife, Lien Nguyen, seven days a week.

In addition to the traditional honey glazed, cinnamon and sugar, Mrs. Donut serves honey wheat cake, blueberry cake, apple crisp cake, French crullers, chocolate iced, old-fashioned cake, old-fashioned sour cream and sour cream cake. Doughnuts also come filled with cherry, lemon, blueberry, apple and raspberry filling, to name just a few.

The homemade doughnuts are the icing on the cake for this bakery, which already serves bagels, pastries, breads, rolls, cookies, cakes and Green Mountain coffee. Customers can enjoy their treats at tables located in the front part of the bakery. Wedding and special occasion cakes can also be ordered.
