Bicycle Charitable Donation - Bikes for the World. Noon- 4 p.m., at Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), 11910 Grand Common Ave., near the Fairfax County Government Center. Bikes for the World, formerly Pedals for Progress, is a 401(c)3 charitable organization that has donated 3,180 bicycles during the first half of this year to eight countries including Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Barbados, Ghana and Sri Lanka. This year's goal is to collect and distribute 5,000 bicycles throughout the world, as well as to benefit children at DC Village, a shelter for our city's homeless families.
