Eagle Ridge Middle School PTO will host the annual back-to-school picnic for all students and staff Friday, Aug. 26, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas, water and desserts will be served. New Student Orientation begins at 9 a.m. The school is located at 42901 Waxpool Road, Ashburn.

The YMCA Loudoun County is accepting registration for its 2005-06 after-school programs. The programs are held at Cool Spring Elementary, 501 Tavistock Drive, S.E., Leesburg; Evergreen Mill Elementary, 491 Evergreen Mill Road, S.E., Leesburg; Forest Grove Elementary, 46245 Forest Ridge Drive, Sterling; and Sterling Elementary, 200 W. Church Road, Sterling. The programs run after school until 6 p.m.; and cost $246 per month. Anyone registering through Aug. 29 receives half off the first month's tuition. Visit ymcawasdc.org.

South Lakes Class of 1985 is looking for class members for a 20-year reunion, Oct. 22, at the Reston Sheraton. Class members are asked to e-mail their names and mailing address to slhs1985@yahoo.com. The following residents received achievement awards at the conclusion of Randolph-Macon Academy's Summer Programs:

Leesburg residents Alexander Isom, son of John and Christine Isom, U.S. Government; Marc Kier, son of James Kier of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Sharon Kier of Leesburg, Algebra I, and Sterling residents Derrick Brown, son of LeRoy Brown of Vienna and Denise Brown of Sterling, Study Skills, Best Student and Technology 3, Best Student; Cristina Detaranto, daughter of Frank and Margaret Detaranto, Certificate of Achievement in both Chemistry and Algebra II. Randolph-Macon Academy, founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational boarding school for students in grades six through 12. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and students in grades nine-12 participate in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. R-MA is located in Front Royal.
