Toll Brothers joined with other school sponsors, Principal Christine Forester, and staff in celebrating Freedom Fest Friday, Aug. 19, marking the opening of the new Freedom High School in South Riding. Following an open house for students, where all Freedom High School students had a chance to meet their teachers and go through their schedules, a festival took place offering music, refreshments, and entertainment for the children, courtesy of Toll Brothers. Members of the Student Advisory Team gave tours of the new school and members of the Athletic Boosters, Fine Arts Boosters, and the PTSO were on hand to answer questions about their organizations. Information tables were set up for each department and members of the community were encouraged to sign-up to volunteer at the school.

Some 1,000 community members attended Dominion High School's third annual Taste of Titan Territory community picnic Aug. 20.

In addition to food, the event featured games, school tours, and a pep rally. Special guests included Titus, the new school mascot, and former Washington Senators star Chuck Hinton.

The event was held in conjunction with ATLAS (Association of Titan Leaders Assisting Students). Membership in ATLAS for the 2005-2006 school year is now open. Membership is free, but donations are vital and appreciated. T-shirts are available with a minimum suggested donation of $20 per family. Dominion High School students will receive an ATLAS membership form. Others should make checks payable to ATLAS and mail to ATLAS, 21326 Augusta Drive, Sterling, VA 20164.

As much as ATLAS needs donations to fulfill its mission of insuring the success of every Dominion High School student, the school also needs volunteers to assist with activities such as hospitality, office support and fund raising. There is an immediate need for help with concessions at football and volleyball games and for parking lot assistance on Sept. 25. Contact Anne Beltrane, volunteer coordinator, at TitanVols@adelphia.net or call 703-404-2256.

Park View High School preschool is accepting applications for the morning and afternoon sessions. Children must be 3 years of age and potty-trained. Sessions will begin at the end of September 2005. Tuition is $100/semester. Contact Diane Edwards at 703-444-7500, Ext. 36.
