Holiday Shopping in McLean

Shoppers were out in full force this past weekend, and the annual McLean Holiday Crafts Show reaped the benefits.

"It's been wonderful," said Colleen Olson-Bauman of Bear-In-A-Box. "I think everyone heard the weather forecast and came out."

Every year, a variety of local vendors set up shop in the McLean Community Center and make their hand-made wares available to holiday shoppers.

Decorative painter Janet Metzger came to the show for the first time this year. Metzger was called when a last-minute cancellation made a booth available.

"They asked if I could paint enough things in two and a half months, and I said I would," said Metzger. "We are having way too much fun."

Metzger's business partner Tracy Lynn Pater, who also runs Old Orchard House bakery, produced an abundance of baked goods to go along with Metzger's painted ceramics.

"It's been so great," said Pater. "We've been having such a good time."
