Stratford Landing Students Have Presidential Experience

Thirty randomly selected fourth-grade students from Stratford Landing had a special treat last week when they were invited to the White House for a Holiday Program.

Fourth-grade teacher Lori Luster, who was also chosen at random, said she was fortunate to be chosen.

"I can’t believe the whole thing happened. It was just surreal,” Luster said.

Luster said that the first part of the stay they went to the West Room where they were treated to holiday treats and hot chocolate.

“After that we got to roam the first floor freely, we got to sit on the furniture and take a look at all the beautiful decorations they had,” Luster said. “Santa was there, Rudolf was there, Frosty was there. After that we were invited into the East Room for a 45-minute presentation of “The Nutcracker” performed by American Ballet Theatre. We were delighted to have President and Mrs. Bush join us; we weren’t expecting that and it was quite a surprise.”
