<sh>Hudgins Hosts Rail Meeting

<bt>Supervisor Cathy Hudgins (D-Hunter Mill) sponsors a meeting with the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) members on the proposed state funding for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the North County Governmental Center, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive, Reston. The Commonwealth Transportation Board will consider the 25-cent toll increase on the Dulles Toll Road at its Feb. 17 meeting in Richmond. Tolls would total 50 cents on ramps and 75 cents at the toll plaza. Revenues from the proposed increase would be dedicated to help fund Virginia's 25 percent share of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, slated for construction as early as 2006.

The public can find more information on the proposed toll increase and provide e-mail comments at http://www.virginiadot.org. In addition, the CTB will receive comments during their workshop on Feb. 16 and during their meeting on Feb. 17.

<sh>Smoking Prevention Help Available

<bt>The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board seeks faith and community-based partners to implement an innovative 10-session youth tobacco prevention program, “Get Real About Tobacco.” The program, funded by the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation, has modules for four age groups, from K-12. <sh>Atlantic City Trip Deadline Feb. 20

<bt>The registration deadline for an overnight trip to the casinos in Atlantic City is Feb. 20. The trip, which is sponsored by the Vienna Parks and Recreation Department, is scheduled for March 3 and March 4. A charter bus leaves March 3, at 10 a.m., from the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E., and returns March 4, around 7:30 p.m. Cost for Town of Vienna residents is $154 per person single occupancy, $115 double occupancy and $108 triple occupancy. For out-of-town participants, the cost is $177 per person single occupancy, $133 double occupancy and $124 triple occupancy. Cost includes transportation, casino package, dinner and breakfast buffets, and overnight accommodations at the Holiday Inn on the Boardwalk. For more information, call 703-255-6360.

<bt>Providence District Council hosts its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7:15 p.m., at the Dunn Loring Center, located on the corner of Gallows and Idylwood Roads.
