<sh>Students Raise $2,000 for Cancer Research

<bt>Students at Louise Archer Elementary School are donating their spare change to help fund research to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The effort is part of the national "Pennies for Patients" program, sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In the first two weeks, Louise Archer's drive has raised nearly $2,000. The three-week campaign ends Feb. 18.

"This really shows kids that they have the power to make a dramatic difference in the lives of people who need their help," said David Timko, executive director of the Society's area chapter. "The support of Louise Archer students will really help us in our mission of finding cures for these blood-related cancers and helping patients and their families deal with these diseases."

Since 1993, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary-, middle- and high-school students nationwide for the Society.
